poor kid
My WWOOFing friends and I were going into Gisborne after working for Angela in the morning, and we were just about to get to the main road when this boy (13 years old) passed us in a quad quite fast. This was on a gravel road. He was doing some tricks and what-not and turned up ahead of us. I lost sight of him, but we saw some rustling in the trees. So we stopped and realized he had driven off the side of the road, down at least ten metres! So I let off some of my friends to stay with him, and I drove off to the nearest house (we were out of cell phone range). Turns out the first house we stop at is this boy's father, and he called the ambulance. They eventually airlifted him out, and he is apparently in stable but critical condition. It made the local paper. He punctured a lung, broke ribs and lost a spleen! Poor guy.

The giant moa in all its glory
The moa was the only species of bird not to have wings, all the other flighless birds do.
This model moa is about 10 - 12 feet high!
